Most of the world's mohair comes from the South African angora goat. These goats came to South African in the 1800s, proliferating to great numbers and producing the finest and most luxurious mohair in the world. Meeting South Africa's fair trade criteria, a small group of talented and hard-working Abafazi (Xhosa word for "women") create these exquisite, one-of-a-kind mohair throws. The focus of the Abafazi is the upliftment of local women through education and employment. Each throw is uniquely hand-woven, fringed with genuine ostrich feathers, and adorned with crystals and beads. We encourage you to enjoy and appreciate the originality of each piece.
